Niagara-on-the-Lake is a charming town full of history, beauty, and endless things to explore. We hope you'll fall in love with this town just as much as we have! Known as the "Napa of the North," there’s certainly no shortage of wine to enjoy, but trust us - there's so much more to this town than just sipping and swirling.
We’ve put together a list of some of the best activities to help you make the most of your weekend, in between wedding events (and maybe a wine or two):
When you're in Niagara, a wine tour is a must! Niagara VQA wines are among the best in the world, and whether you prefer a bus tour or a bike ride through the vineyards, there’s no shortage of amazing stops.
In the Niagara-on-the-Lake area, we highly recommend checking out Peller Estates, Reif Estate Winery, Inniskillin Winery, Wayne Gretzky Estate Winery, Trius Winery (don’t miss the rose room), and Jackson-Triggs Winery. These wineries hold a special place in Katie and Andres' hearts!
As we mentioned above, a bike winery tour is a great way to explore, but if you prefer a bike ride without the wine, that’s an option too! Zoom Leisure offers both regular and E-bike rentals in Niagara-on-the-Lake. We recommend cruising along the Niagara River Recreation Trail, a scenic paved path built in 1986 that stretches for 53 kilometers (32 miles) along the Canadian side of the Niagara River - perfect for a leisurely ride!
If you’ve had your fill of wine (or need a break from the endless tastings), why not switch it up with some amazing breweries in the Niagara region? We recommend Oast House, Silversmith, Counterpart Brewery, and The Exchange Brewery - because sometimes, you need a beer to balance out all that wine!
A trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake isn't complete without visiting Niagara Falls! Get up close on the Maid of the Mist, zipline to the base, or enjoy panoramic views from the Skywheel. Explore Clifton Hill for fun games, restaurants, and attractions. Don't forget to catch the nightly fireworks over the falls - it's a must-see!
Step back in time as you wander through the charming streets of Old Towne Niagara-on-the-Lake. With its historic buildings, unique boutiques, and cozy cafes, it’s the perfect place to relax and soak in the small-town charm. Grab a scoop of delicious ice cream at Cow’s or enjoy a cold beer at the iconic Angel Inn - the oldest operating tavern in town.
Whether you’re shopping for one-of-a-kind souvenirs, indulging in local treats, or enjoying the scenic beauty, Old Towne offers a delightful experience that you won’t want to miss.
Treat Yourself – Whether you’re unwinding after travel or recovering from a night of celebrating, a little pampering is well-deserved. Vintage Hotels, 124 on Queen, and White Oaks Resort all offer spa services worth checking out - from mani/pedis to massages and even hot springs soaks.
Established in 1875, this is the oldest golf course in North America! This 9-hole course offers stunning views along the shores of Lake Ontario - perfect for a scenic round followed by lunch at the clubhouse.
If you’re a history buff or just love discovering local stories, check out the Laura Secord Homestead, Queenston Heights Park, Fort George National Historic Site, and the Mackenzie Printery for a fascinating look into the area’s past.
